Re: Tekion DMS

Our dealership is switching from ADP (CDK) to Tekion end of Q1 2023. Not encouraged by the reviews I have seen so far. As well as our single OEM brand, we do a ton of wholesale for the antique & classic models and source vast numbers of after market parts independently.

I have a specific question ...

Re: SB or SP?

There will be two different icons on your desktop. For ERA (blue screen), yellow chain link symbol on blue background. Ignite is the white, strobed, 'R' on a blue background that looks a bit like a venetian blind. The login should be the same for each one? It is for us.

I must admit to being ...

Re: SB or SP?

You might already have Ignite. We had both here in parts for a long time. We ADP guys went straight to Ignite whereas the old timers stuck with ERA.

The other problem with SP is that it makes for a very messy SOR sheet (pick ticket in R&R) when you have some parts in stock and some on hand and ...

Re: SB or SP?

What's 2533 ? Tools >> Clear Special Orders >> Clear by invoice is what we use! Can also sometimes access more directly by right click.

Yes, mistakes can always occur but we have someone who refuses to even make the effort to fill parts when giving them out so that resulted in loads of freebies ...

Re: parts kit

The other feature that SDL has which some might not be aware of is the ability to 'nest' lists. In other words, a list can contain a list which is very useful for hierarchical menus.

Re: SB or SP?

Worse, 007, they use SP and then do not bother going in to fill the line at all. It appears that those SOR's close out when the repair order closes but we have people that don't fill on counter invoices and those must be cleared manually.

I get what you are saying though. In Ignite it is so easy ...

Re: parts kit

Good point. Our warranty clerk has complained that warranty claims using parts kits do not transfer properly. We raised the issue with R&R in May or June 2015 and they claimed it was fixed late last year but I think she is still having issues. Oh yes, another R&R limitation - parts kit is limited to ...

SB or SP?

For R&R dealers out there, what is the consensus regarding order types in the TC field? Those of us here from ADP contend that one should use 'SB' on a repair order or counter invoice and then "fill" the lines when the part is handed out. We don't like SP because it deprives the advisors of knowing ...

Re: parts kit

Even though ADP, SDL lists do not have the price flexibility of R&R parts kits, they are far more versatile than R&R's offering.

First and most importantly, SDL lists allow one to pick & choose which parts to bill at run time. One can easily toggle the part on/off and list items can be set to ...

Re: Crazy Special Order System

I think I have found a method to chip away at their crazy order system.

They are using 5x7 yellow lined pads for order sheets. Hand written special order sheets are my biggest pet peeve. This is 2015 not 1975 for heavens sake! So, I simply printed a pick ticket and trimmed it to 5x7 using the ...
