Re: Parts Inventories
I've never used one, but a couple years back I was quoted ~12,000 by an inventory company. Due to the price the owners decided to just have the department conduct the inventory. for perspective the inventory is spread out over 7 locations with a total of about 3mil. to be honest though, money wise ...

Re: Need CDK help
I don't know if this would be of any help, but here it goes... We use two CDK scan guns and bluetooth printers at the dealership to receive freight. both car lines (GM and Toyota) that we service are set up the same way, and that is the scan gun validates the shipment against the ESD that is sent to ...

Re: Ev Batteries
We have a law here in Montana similar to the one in Massachusetts that requires manufacturers to pay warranty markup even on parts supplied by the manufacturer at no cost. I did speak with my rep about it and he just kind of shook his head. After that I did speak with another parts manager from a ...

Re: LPOs
All LPO's are dropped at our recon center where all new vehicle PDI's are done. service has a forklift and a place to store them. Parts does not touch the LPO's at all as there is nothing in it for the parts department. all handling charges (what little there is) that gm pays goes to the service ...

Re: SFE PARTS DEPT SALES BONUS
SFE started paying that bonus for accessories purchases from your ADI. I think it is 1% of total purchases including LPO's and the thinking was (at least from my ADI rep) that parts deserves something for handling the LPO parts... I believe prior to a few months ago it used to be paid out on the ...

Re: DEPLOYING ROOF RAIL AIR BAGS
Did anybody else see the cost of the side airbags?? My ass got especially chapped when I saw they were all under $200, when I had just billed a non-recall curtain air bag to my body shop and the insurance list price was $1050. I get recall parts are going to be cheaper, but come on.......

Re: Counterman in the shop
We currently have 15 main-line techs that are serviced by a single counterman. He is very busy, works his ass off, doesn't complain, and needs next to noting in the way of support. He personally doesn't want to work with another counterman because his workflow will be affected by throwing another ...

Re: GM: Handling of LPO's
We don't touch them. I have all LPO's dropped at our recon center and its service's responsibility to organize, store, and distribute them. Service takes any handling fees due. lets be honest, we work for a single business but are responsible for our particular department. Why would I go through the ...

Counterman in the shop
It has been decide at my dealership to put a parts guy at a mobile work station in the shop. I have concerns about how all of this will go, and I am wondering if any of you out there have a similar situation at your stores, or have tried it in the past. If you have tried this how well did/does it ...

Re: CORE RIPOFF
In the GM Core Return portal there is now a message that says why and how they expect to correct the short pay on heavy cores....There is also a thank you for dealers that bought specific cases to the attention of SRC. I want to know why it is taking them 10 months to get through my Light Cores. I ...
