Computer use policies

We've got a policy in our handbook. But better yet, our ISP set us up with a security program that allows us to specify which sites the users are allowed to go into. Employees submit a site, I review it, if it's work related it gets approved.

We allow, even encourage, e-mail and browser. Most of our employees haven't had much experiece with it, so it is a chance to get them interested. Those who use it are visible to everyone else, so there is less temptation to abuse it. Managers monitor use and it hasn't been a problem yet. We just installed a proxy server which came with a firewall security pkg. with filtering included. We did this so we could use a cable modem. Works great on the GM Access Network.

How are Ford dealers handling the QC site where it now possible for the porters, detailers, new car get ready employees to obtain processes and procedures that are only on that site? In our visits to dealers, we often see incorrect and damaging processes being done to to new vehicles. When we inquire if they are aware that the information and instructions are on the Ford site, it is like a deer in the headlights. Most state that no one has informed them of this. As the manufacturers move forward to produce less paper and use their sites, how are you going to handle it?
