Sales Department Pay

What should the total sales department pay be as a percentage of total gross, inluding used and F & I gross. This would include sales managers, F & I and salespeople commissions.
Also has anybody had any experience with sales teams and the associated pay plans.

We run 23-25% of gross. People in 20 Groups would think I am nuts. I would rather pay my salespeople more than average. I believe the guide is 20% or less.

Here's a new one for ya! Our sales are paid $80 + 1% of the sale price + $150 or $75 for list. Can you believe it, a dealership that doesn't pay on gross. Does anyone think this is a fair pay plan?
