Bulk material for repair of GM seat covers

This goes with posting to Service and Body Shop Managers forum. Our AVM tells us we can't replace seat covers, we have to order bulk material from GMSPO and replace only the affected panel(s). Anybody out there ordering material for your service dept.??

UPDATE; I checked with several local upholstery shops, one of which can get "most" OEM materials. They will not do leather, but they will do the vinyl sides on leather seats. In many cases the sublet will be as high or higher than replacement. Bulk material and carpet is available, part groups 15.500, 15.504, 15.512, but partech says good luck getting the right stuff. Also, it is all ship-direct and backorders immediately upon order.

We have never ordered bulk material, but we do have a GM authorized upholstery shop 22 miles from our store. We do, however replace quite a few seat covers still, with no problems from our area service reps.

We have in the past ordered bulk material
but the trim shop that we use can usually
match the material.The normal course of
action is to order a seat cover and we have
never been denied.The WPC has even requested
a warranty seat cover be sent back to them.
