bar codes

Is anyone using bar codes for either receiving or front counter and accessory store sales? Since we got a Jeep franchise and the PT Cruisers have come along it is becoming increasingly difficult for my parts advisors to find the pricing on new accessories. Also, the customers have a tendancy to pick up something and take it directly to the cashier. Even if I gave here access, it is still inconvenient for the customer to wait for her to generate a counter ticket.

Hi Joe. ADP and R&R both have bar code scanning systems. I'm using the ADP PartScan system at a GM store. It has the capability now for receiving and physical inventory, but I'm not aware of a major vendor with a counter selling system that ties in to OEM. Good luck. The systems now are expensive and have limited functionality, but that won't last long.

Joe,
Reynolds does have a barcode solution for receiving and physical inventories. If you are interested, and are using Reynolds and Reynolds, contact your sales rep for information. SmartScan does work with all of the Chrysler barcodes, and is fully integrated with the ERA system.
