ADP Core Tracking

In Websuite 2007s (not sure for others)
On repair orders for each job you can press F12 to enter a status. The status can be set to prevent an ro from being closed until parts department clears the status. It has been a while since I did this setup. If anyone wants I can try to dig out my notes for this. If turned on there will be extra steps service will need to take to close all ro's with or without a hold.

The F12 status can also be used for warranty parts as well.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have been aware of the 'status' assignment feature for a long time and was more inclined to see that as a necessity in regards to the return of warranty parts, but would now seem open to use it for core return purposes to some extent without turning core tracking on.

The ability to sell parts without charging outside customers, or internal customers for that matter, while still being able to account for the cores with this feature seemed worthwhile.

Billing for cores on repair orders seems less of a necessity when it is 'most likely' a safe bet that the core will be returned, but this mentality leaves the door open for losses.

Charging cores to wholesale customers in good standing and faith is not a big deal in general, but if we don't charge the core in good faith, and time passes, memory alone can't be reliable. Billing and crediting the core is an unfortunate safeguard to put the responsibility on the buyer.

From what I've researched in regards to turning the feature on, it would appear that keeping track of cores that were both charged and uncharged easier to accomplish.

Another positive would be the elimination of the need to constantly physically inventory dirty cores. A simplified, time saving report, would make inputting core returns that much easier. If a core is missing, that much more easy to pinpoint.

I was kinda hoping to hear from folks that have it turned on to review the good an bad aspects.

Still kicking it around.

Thanks
