New Store Move

New Store Move

We are a GM store and are about to move to a new building. We are on Reynolds and wondering if I could get some input on your thoughts on bin locations
Ie I mean what would you say the best way is to move bin locations? ....example part A at old store is in Bin 07A01 etc and when we get to new store it will be in "say" 03A01 .. should be relieve all second bins locations in store 1 and post at new store to bin 2 locations in (2101) . I guess what I am trying to my head around is the best way to move these parts from one store to the other regarding bin locations ....so that once we get to new store and process a Physical shortly afterwards I can see what
possible got missed from store 1 to store 2 ....should we encounter any dollar issues with upstairs accounting . not sure if this the easiest or best way to proceed . If I followed this idea I would relieve bin 1 location as I place part in new store under bin 2 location , once all this is done I would run a 6910 report to see whats left in bin 1 locations ...adjust till we have a zero parts in bin1 ....but then not sure if I can get Reynolds to then flip all my parts at new store from bin 2 to bin 1 .....thus allowing us to start using bin2 for surplus etc....Since I have not done this move in the last 30 years , any input would be appreciated

You can have 2 bin locations in R&R, Bin1 Bin2. You can mass change bin locations from one to another in 2107, you have the option to change only Bin1 location, only Bin2 location or both. If you made Bin2, the new location bin, and made your bin changes manually not as a mass change then when you're done, you could run a 6910 of all your Bin1 locations to see if any parts remain. I think that would work.

Or just use the bin location change and do your physical because unless you do a before and after physical you won't know if the part disappeared in the move or not.

I use Auto/Mate and they have an option to Transfer Parts from One Bin Location to another by just typing in original bin location to new bin location. That is how I would do it then do a bin check after you are all done.
