from R&R to DealerTrack?

from R&R to DealerTrack?

Postby cain555 » Wed Jun 17, 2015 5:23 pm

Has anyone made that switch? We are highly considering it as a store. I was against it originally, but after seeing the presentation, it looked nice and seems to do what I would need it to from a Parts Manager position. Has anyone made this switch? I would love to hear if you regret it or if it's working nicely? Thanks in advance, this obviously a huge decision.

It's an awful system. Especially coming off R&R. Support is average at best. They'll get back to you but often they tell me they'll " put a request to an engineer " and I never hear back.

I went from R&R to Dealertrack and being honest, I learned most of my way around the system in less then a week, it is easy to learn and navigate, as a system, it is complete bullshit, it can not and will not keep track of inventory, you can not receive stock orders without you being out about 25% because it does not receive MSQ properly, or it loses a few pieces here and there, the numbers for reports are all wrong and analysis' are down right 25K off. The best thing to do is receive each part line by line and not as a whole, it is a garbage system, thank god that it is rolling out of Canada at the end of the year and we are going to something different. Also, the answer to any question you ask the support team is either well that's how it is supposed to run, or they don't know, or they simply do not care.

BEWARE!!!!!!!!

at a previous dealer I went from R&R to dealertrack. I did not like the change. I will agree with all the previous statements. Unknowledgeable support. The actual people who know anything are too busy to help you. I have proven their logic wrong, and presented it the office manager to show that I will be off at reconciliation time and can do nothing about it.

Parts manager here..we made the switch from decades of R&R to DealerTrack a couple of years ago
about the same time as dealership remodel to save Money $$ it was good move
Tha accounting office will rave about it its fine for Fixed ops also Really is fine most of the cluster was in training
the trainers are used to using short cuts (Key strokes) (well we all knew ones from R@R not DT )
we needed to be showed the long way to do stuff ...then the short cut later very tough two weeks
lots of early issues but through the years much better a few times a year the system goes down like anything
I find support is fine! be prepared when you call know what issue you want help with ....screen numbers invoice #s etc.
they will access system and help if they can't they get someone that can. email confirmation on every support call
really a good decision for our dealership.

and the fact that DealerTrack was bought yesterday for $4billion by Cox Automotive Group (Manhiem, Kelly Blue Book, ect) means there will be a lot more improvements in the next 2 years.

Well that is all fine and dandy, but they're still pulling out of Canada by years end, they can stay out for two years until they get their shit together once and for all.

Thank you for your responses. I know it's not as robust as R&R and ADP, but will it let you build reports like part's by group # or fast selling parts by source? Things like that? Please let me know, getting nervous here...
