SnapOn EPC Updates

SnapOn EPC Updates

Postby Bailo1 » Thu Jan 07, 2016 5:21 pm

Isn't it convenient? GM switches to a newer, "better" catalog that takes eons to update and ticks everyone off...fast-forward to this afternoon when SnapOn calls and lets me know they now offer a USB update that updates "super-fast" and it's only $16/month. What a racket

Speaking of catalogs, just saw this today:

"PCs must be powered on 1/9 & 1/10 for Electronic Parts Catalog Update - In response to your feedback, beginning Saturday January 9 and continuing through Sunday evening January 10, a large data update will be incorporated into the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) that will download and update the indexes used to help you search for ACDelco parts."

It's at the top of the Parts page on GlobalConnect.

I still think they should have left well enough alone, they catalog we had worked well. This new one sucks, I sure hope the updates correct the issues.

I got the call too. Appeared to be a scam by the way she was presenting it so I declined.

Yeah, the lady that called me clearly wasn't sure what the heck she was doing and it sounded pretty spammy. I jacked with her quite a bit before I finally told her I wasn't interested.

After the initial set-up, on all of our Snap-On PCs, in October; we found out in December that one PC did not load properly, and had to be completely reloaded! Another 11 hours we will never get back! That is when the first we were made aware of the possibility there would be a jump drive update may be on the horizon. If the new update delivery is faster, and the catalog improves, bring on the $16 charge. What else will we do? :x

I quit using the local version of the catalog and started using the online version from global connect. It is much faster and you can also enlarge it.
