ADP/CDK and negative on hand counts. This is a problem with a lame excuse, from ADP/CDK. The real source of the problem is they never set up or programmed (as has been done on a couple other system) a process for 'pre-selling' parts. So, instead of addressing the problem with a new program they tell the parts manager that "that is the way we handle pre-paid parts"; which I, personally don't buy; it is a lame excuse.

I read and reread your post and I'm a little confused. If you were short 50k, and the insurance check went to other income (makes no sense)instead of crediting your inventory account then you should still be 50k short because nothing has change in the GL inventory amount. Yet you are now 50k over? that's a 100k swing. I don't follow.

Looks like shortage is from 2012. But why are you asking now? That's the way I think it should be posted. Parts inventory is reconciled and any monies recovered go to other income.

The dealer brought in a consultant to go over my inventory figures and go through my inventory reports and he wasn't able to come up with anything solid..
Our office manager put it off hoping the problem would rectify itself....(convinced it was an adp glitch)

There is a glitch in Drive + that will add an 'extra' part if a SPO isn't rolled properly. We've argued with CDK since they were ADP, and they deny it, but I had a lot of evidence backing my claim, and still do.
A lot of your zero'd out parts were old SPO's, and if you look close enough, you'll see where you receipted one, sold one, but yet, you still have one in inventory after the RO is closed (and the part is still on the closed RO too).

We have had a problem with ''prepaid'' special orders on ro's in the past.. usually when there isn't an ro to roll it to, so we have to ''ps'' manually remove the parts from DMS

I had a ton of special order parts that were missing at inventory time.

Figured out how they got added back in and now we don't use ADP's way to prepay special orders.
