Same here. They were able to get it real close after inventory. So I know it's not me.

My thoughts are that accounting is not posting by the dates the parts were entered into inventory and they are just posting as they get them. So at the end of every month, nothing matches. I think it ends up matching once all the invoices come in, etc but by that time, no one is measuring. Then it happens again the next month. And so on.

I have no concrete proof that this is what's happening, just my gut feeling

If it's consistently growing each month on the GL side, it's likely not a posting/date issue. Sounds like there might be a bad setup somewhere in CDK that is not relieving the proper GL when a part is sold. How many inventory GLs do you have in accounting? If more than one, reconcile them individually and se if they are flip-flopping on the GL side. If not, maybe accounting is posting something manually to your inventory? Or someone else is? Or I hate to say it, but possibly theft? Lots to consider. $10-$30K/month is a huge problem that needs to be fixed immediately, IMHO.

Sorry for the late reply. I would say go back to the basics on your reconciliation. Start fresh. Make sure all reconciling items are getting added and subtracted properly, and some figure didn't get reversed. I agree that you should do each GL account individually if that's how your office breaks out the accounting. The most important part in all of this is the Cutoff time. Also, you can do a reconciliation each day or each week if you wish, I just recommend getting in before everyone else arrives.
