$44 to pull the code
$18 to cut side cut keys
$10 to cut traditional keys
service dept charges $60 to program remotes

Cutting keys is the worst part of my job, I hate doing it. Time consuming and just about anyone that has lost or broken their key is already wound pretty tight by the time they get here. I try to help the best I can, and I have taxi'd customers and new keys to the local train station, local amusement park, several motels/hotels, and even to a college dorm room. Losing a key can come close to ruining a vacation or weekend get-away, and it is worthwhile to help minimize the damage the best we can...

I don't like duplicating any keys, but we do it when the situation calls for it. I prefer to cut by code whenever possible, comp'ing the code charge at times.

I have thought of buying a Tech-2 to program remotes.... Anyone else doing this in the parts dept ??

We charge $75.00 and require the title, vehicle registration, and VALID driver's license. No exceptions, no refunds. All sales are final. We wave the fee if you purchased the vehicle from us. In 2016 we made just over $10,000.00 charging for key codes. Apparently we have a lot of idiots in this area constantly losing their keys.

What market / lines are you? I'd love to charge $100 for codes, but the other GM dealer in town doesn't charge anything..

SF Bay Area California. We give the customer a choice, pay the $100 through us or go to a locksmith and pay $200+. We have to pay for our machine somehow :D
