What source to put a miscellaneous part #'s in

What source to put a miscellaneous part #'s in

Postby LOWAIRD1964 » Fri Jul 28, 2017 1:45 pm

I am just curious what would be a wise source to put a tire disposal fee part # in. We bill a lot of tires on parts counter slips and also service doesn't always collect on there end so I was thinking to just have my guys bill it out on every ticket and make the $$$ Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Ask your office which account they bring it into so you can know which one to sell it out of. If they bring it into 242(GM parts inventory acct.), sell it out as a part and use 900 (GM NPN inventory acct.) as you would for any aftermarket/NPN part. You can make up your own part # or word to use as a part #.

Denise, thanks for taking the time to respond. Here's the thing, normally I just charged the tire disposal to service and we were done with it. But they aren't collecting from the customer most of the time. So im trying to come up with a way to do something about it and make a little money while doing it. Should I just start marking the tire disposals 242?

My tires are all in src 105. I am on cdk, so we have a part fee associated with src 105 so whenever a tire gets billed out the part fee is billed out automatically

Have the shop factor it into the cost of mounting and balancing and be done with it.

How are you selling tires on a counter slip and still having the used tire?

This - and we have an additional fee of $0.00 to show Toyota's Road Hazard for Dealer Tire tires and a $1.00 fee for all other tires. My "factory" tires are in source 50 and "aftermarket" tires in source 51 so that I can have the 2 different road hazard fee types bill automatically depending on which type of tire being sold. The disposal fee of $2.00 each is also added to both those sources
