Do you have to be on ADP to use the Cash Discovery program?
Thanks

I will double check but I do not believe so. This is a program that was developed as part of the Parts Voice business that ADP recently acquired from Cobalt.

As long as ADP can poll your DMS via dial-up, VPN, etc. it would not matter who your provider is. I think Cobalt even would let you pull the file and send it to them, probably ADP would too, but having them poll you is a whole lot easier.

I haven't seen the non-disclosure since ADP acquired CDP but Cobalt guaranteed in writing that they would use the data only for purposes of matching for the CDP.

I've used CDP for a couple of years and it really helped clean out a lot of old stuff when I went on RIM. Lately I'm mostly getting offers to purchase from other dealers which can help your 687 account as long as you don't over do it.

Any dealer who can provide us (ADP) with a file of their part numbers can participate in CDP. ADP's DMi Group is the one that runs and supports this offering. DMi has autocapture capabilities for virtually all systems.

long post bad password. sending very condensed version this time.

www.bottomlinedealer.com another avenue
of selling obs .45 on the dollar-and pay freight. Their web site explains it all and
also how to capture and send files whether
via ADP or R&R.
I moved alot of parts via cobalt and had
no problems except slow pay if I did not fax customer an invoice but sent with parts instead.
Who is really behind this ADP that bought cobalt? I called the old number I had for cobalt since I was not receiving any offers.
Cobalt had sent an e-mail to their customers telling of the sale and to expect DMI? to contact them about getting access to their
computer to pull the data. I had no offers and a new company did not contact us to have access to ourt obs file(I have parts in 1 source) I called an old number I had for cobalt and told the lady my concern. She
practically scolded me. YOU CANNOT SELL PARTS GM HAD YOU SCRAP.(obviously) WHERE DID YOU GET THESE PARTS? (have 2 only 1 protected) Seems she knew I had added a few numbers to my sale file that GM also had me scrap (had 2 only 1 protected). She said ADP cash discovery was pulling through D2D.
Does ADP=auto dealer parent?

I see this hasn't been updated in a long while. Also, many ask about what their full list of options are in the Slow-Moving, Idle/Obsolete world. I published an article in DrivingSales that included this list. Thought it would be handy for many as it's 2018.

Your Full List Of Options For Idle Parts Inventory

Options are limited, but in alphabetical order below.

Auction:
After all expenses are paid, usually 10-15% of original parts cost is recovered. But get rid of all those parts at once.

Cash Discovery Program:
A dealer-to-dealer network, where parts are at 50% of dealer cost. Parts moved in bulk.

D2D Link:
Available for Dodge, GMC, and Ford dealers. A Part-By-Part transaction platform. Manual process with various parts prices Discounting required to make it lucrative for other dealers to purchase.

Dealermine:
A dealer to dealer network, where parts are at 50% of dealer cost. Parts moved in bulk.

Ebay:
An established audience. Listings are typically 1 part at a time with time required per listing unless dealer has signed with a digital software company to provide this service. Typically, the majority of a dealer’s inventory is listed on eBay with this software.

NADPE:
A dealer-to-dealer network, and an emerging technology, where parts are exchanged evenly at dealer cost, in bulk. No write down of parts.

Write Off:
Write off the part in full, and toss in garbage. 100% loss. Problem disappears from shelf, and reallocated to financial statement.

The Cash Discovery Program is great if you have room to spare in your return allowance, or if you have no maximum return, because you can purchase the parts below cost, then return them to the manufacturer at cost, which means you'll be ahead.
