You will have to be careful when using this term in a parts catalog situation. There are more than only "Master" and "dummy" keys.

You have "valet" keys on some older models that did start the car but would not open the trunk or glove box.

I don't know what they called the key on the Corvette ZR1 that allowed the engine to make full power.

Those are just two examples that come to mind - there are likely others.

Also let's not forget the old meaning of "master key" - supposedly the key that could unlock nearly any car. I found a set of these in an old dealership desk. Granted they probably didn't fit anything newer than 1965 but they did exist.

"DUMMY KEY" is the term I've always used.
