NEW TRANSMISSION OVER THE COUNTER SALE

I know I can get the answer quicker here, so here goes.... We sell a New or RM transmission over the counter and it has a 36 mo 100,000 mile parts and labor warranty.... if something fails within the tranny the warranty is not to do a repair but to replace with new tranny through out the initial warranty period correct? Customer asked this today and I don't think we've ever done any kind of repair to them or any of our shops we've sold to, but do think it's a fair question.... TIA

Pretty sure it becomes like a new vehicle at the point of transmission replacement...if repairs are needed it would be done on a cost analysis worksheet to see if it is cheaper to repair or replace.

They better be sure they flush the cooler and the cooler lines. And then properly document that it happened.

Proof is a flush code or a dated receipt from NAPA (or from whoever) for a flush kit. The PCC has request a scanned copy on two previous transmission failures in the past.

I believe it has to be torn down and like any other warranty transmission. You will have to do the cost analysis and go from there. The installer can do the work and you can pay him or you can get it to your shop and do it. According to my previous DMA, over the counter installs are not required to show proof of flushing. Needless to say I argued with him on that one, but he said that was the way it was.

PARTS ONLY WARRANTY when sold to and installed by a consumer. So far everyone has had correct answers in regards to handling a transmission under warranty. If it is not being directly handled by yours or other GM Service department, you give the ISC the powertrain number and they will advise them steps to take to properly warranty there transmission (or other powertrain component)

I always add the VIN and current mileage to the parts invoice, AND i also bill out a can of the 19001 kooler klean tranny flush, and tell the customer what they must do with it.. The addition of this 19001 trans flush adds assurance that the ISC used the flush on the lines.

proof would be a valid repair order showing installation of a gm transmission by an authorized ISC, not a picture of cousin Jeb dangling the transmission from his pickup. 36 months/100k is the warranty whether PARTS or PARTS and LABOR.
