Delco batteries

Are Delco batteries only warranted to the original purchaser, or does it pass to subsequent owners of the vehicle? Am looking in svc parts and procedures and am not really finding an answer. Never mind, I found the delco battery warranty info online.

Covered by an Acdelco National warranty and NO receipt is needed. Can go by the date code on the battery. Call your ACDelco Dist and they will decipher the code for you and help you figure out months usage.

with that in mind, how do they know if it the original purchaser.

I would think that it would transfer warranty with no issue. My dealership will not warranty a battery without the original invoice under any circumstance. Our Delco Distributor also requires us to send them a copy of the original purchase along with the defective battery.

What if they already have had the battery warrantied after the had owned it for 40 months and now 1 year later it goes bad. They only had 2 months left on the original purchase. Warranty does not start over. X amount of months from original purchase. No receipt no warranty.

its amazing how different suppliers have different procedures. I found this on the acdelco website. READ THE BOLD and tell your suppliers to stick it if they refuse to warranty without a receipt.

ACDelco, General Motors Company, warrants to the original retail purchaser a new replacement Professional battery for 18, 30 and 42 months (depending on the series) from the date of purchase when used in private passenger car and light truck applications.

In the event you wish to make a claim under this warranty, you must return your dated bill of sale and your battery, with its warranty insert intact, to your ACDelco retailer. If your dated bill of sale is not available, the beginning date for this warranty will be based on the date code as it appears on the battery label.
