remote transmitter

We had a customer purchase 13529665 transmitter in the shop and
we programmed to the vehicle. She wasn't happy so we had to refund
the job. Has anyone had any luck reprogramming one of these? It is on a
2020 Equinox. My techs say once it is programmed it cannot be deprogrammed or
reprogrammed. Trying to cut my losses.

I've heard this on the newer vehicles. Just found this in SI:

The keyless entry transmitters can only be programmed to one vehicle. They can be programmed more than once but only to the same VIN. Once a keyless entry transmitter is programmed to a vehicle it cannot be programmed to a different vehicle but it can be programmed to the same VIN as much as necessary to complete the diagnostic procedures being followed.
