PURCHASE LOYALTY SCAM

Check your purchase loyalty #'s, I was looking at mine and saw that they dinged me for 21 disloyal purchases of p/n 25532619. Not sure where they got that from.

A lot of numbers on mine are BS. The history on some of those part numbers shows only RIM orders or CSO orders. Yet some how there is always 1 or 2 of how many ever we sold that were "NON-RIM PURCHASES". Just another way they get out of paying us what they say we earned. I've almost given up on arguing all the little stuff with my worthless DMA, and I'm sure that's what they want too.

I decided a while back to just say #$%# the Purchase Loyalty Program. I've instructed my guys to do whatever is necessary to buy parts to fix a car the same day because I do not want the program requirements/guidelines to define how our department runs. I do not need part guys thinking "if i buy this part from someone other than GM, it will affect our purchase numbers and possibly knock us out of the big money...and I'm not risking taking an @ss chewing over that". No sir, take care of the CUSTOMER!

In my opinion the Purchase/Sales Loyalty Programs are more of a negative than a positive. Why? Because it makes parts dept people:
* reluctant to purchase parts from another source knowing the purchase will count against their numbers.
* prevent techs/service dept from repairing a vehicle the same day.
* the above comment then affects the customer because they don't have their car.
* now service dept is behind and has to work their magic getting out the carry-overs + STILL meet promises to customers of same day repairs for that day.+
* I could go on and on, but won't. You all know exactly how it works and how it affects your work flow.

Sometimes I seriously question the intelligence of the decision makers who come up with these ideas. I get it that you're (GM) trying to get back lost revenue from dealers who purchased parts from Delco Distributors. I also get it that you want your dealers to buy from you. Fine. But why in the world would you implement "rules" that can/will/has a negative impact on your BEST CUSTOMER, Us. The Dealership. The ones who deal directly with the customer.

Sorry, just venting.

Because it has nothing to do with us as we are not viewed as customers in their eyes. All we are is a captured revenue stream. They are continually looking for ways to increase that stream. In the corporate world, there ultimate responsibility is to "Provide Value To
THE SHAREHOLDERS." And that's the cold hearted fact.

Partsman103, you have nothing to apologize for, you are exactly right.

With the implementation of Service Lane Parts, GM claims improving the ownership experience through same day customer repairs. But the Purchase/Sales Loyalty Programs have just the opposite effect. We take the LPG credit very seriously, because it amounts to a considerable amount of money. We rarely purchase parts from other sources, and yes it does prevent techs from completing repairs the same day, and has a very real negative effect on customer satisfaction. This makes no sense if you really care about the customer's experience at the dealership, but this is the corner GM has painted us into. It seems the focus for GM is their bottom line.

Just more hoops for us to jump through to be profitable. Unfortunately this comes at the customers expense.

I have a meeting with the DMA and Zone manager next week. Apparently, my emails have ruffled some feathers.

1) My CSOs make up roughly 50% of my orders. When RIM was shoved upon us, we were promised a CSO percentage in the 20s or lower. Her reply was that I have too many restrictions. I fired back, if I am 90%
in RIM proposals, it sounds like RIM has a logic issue

2) Why can customers go to Westin and get Nerf bars for less than what GM sells them to me? She wanted part numbers. I am sorry you missed the point. We aren't in the accessory business...we aren't competitive.

3) Acrylics are made by LUND and I have to call them for warranty? And, they sell them to me for less than you all do...

4) the OES brake issue was supposed to be resolved last November and yet you still push Durastop. I could sell OES, if I had it. Its like telling a customer that wants to but an LTZ Tahoe...yep, we have no Tahoes,
GM cant furnish the interiors. But, we have a Sonic, its like a Tahoe....it has 5 doors and a warranty.

5) why do you keep punishing me for outside purchases? My PDC didn't stock PF48s, PF63s, 23417074, and 23281440. I had to buy out my WDs stock of all said part numbers because GM couldn't keep me stocked.

She read my replies and is driving up to meet. I am sure nothing will come out of this powwow. But, she will be the first Zone Manager that has actually shown interest in my concerns.

Keep us posted! It Looks to me like GM will be the next Walmart, as a manager the only thing you will have control over is when to sweep the floor!

My guys are instructed to get the parts that are needed ASAP, even if its not buying from GM, that's why I go over my Loyalty reports and send in a list of corrections every month. We still do stock orders from the WD and buy a lot from local Dealers. Some months I can't make the top tier because of that, but when I am close and GM decides to start counting my CSO orders against me, thats when I question every little nut and bolt.
