GM STRIKE AND ORDERING PARTS

GM STRIKE AND ORDERING PARTS

Postby LOWAIRD1964 » Mon Sep 30, 2019 6:40 pm

Hello are you guys still putting your ordered through? I have a few body shop orders stacking up, a engine and a transmission that I need. Just curious if I should put these orders through gm or start picking up locally??

Bodyshop orders depends on the customer, if they are a really good customer I will try and find the part(s) otherwise I'm letting them know GM is on strike and I'm not sure how long it will take to get.
Anything for my shop, I am locating and getting as quickly as possible. Glad GM did away with RPL this month, I was getting tired of submitting adjustments.

We are either locating or submitting CSO3's orders for anything we need for our shop and wholesale customers as best we can.
MOST have been understanding thus far.
All dealers are affected by this, but the wholesale dealers are getting killed with the loss of PASE payouts.
The short term dealer to dealer sales are nice, but we will be hurting when the dust settles.....

Our DMA has told us to keep doing your normal everyday procedures of ordering, SPAC case generation, RIM policy acceptance, etc. because if you wait until the strike is over, you'll be at the back of the line for those orders, SPAC cases, etc. So we have done as asked.

However I do get the feeling of Pontiac again, order something, wait a month, suddenly a wholesale dealer gets it before you do, you buy it from them to take care of the customer and your part arrives the day after the RO is closed and delivered, and GM tells you to go pound sand/use your return reserve.

The strike may be hurting our sales some, but it has been good to be able to purchase from other dealerships and local suppliers again like in times past. With the plant 75 fiasco, that got us used to telling customers GM did not have any parts that we could get very quick. I'm not too sure we would be any better off in those regards if there was no strike going on. Sad but true

We are placing Daily CSO orders still (our PDC is 030 Hudson) and the warehouse must have some salaried workers shipping parts still because I seems every 5 to 10 days they will pick all CSO orders that they have for you and ship all out at once. Same goes for DRO orders, they seem to be rotating through their dealers one day at a time. We make sure the customer is ok waiting up to 10 days to get the part otherwise we purchase from another Dealer or WD.

I should know better than to say this but, why hasn't anyone at GMCCA directed the PDCs to all ship the same way. We are hurting for CSO orders here, all we get from our servicing PDC is the DRO orders and some odd CSOs from other PDCs. I ask my DMA that question and he had no clue as to the rhyme or reason they are shipping this way. Like most of you we have CSO3 & CSO orders sitting out there for cars down and GM is paying for rentals. If the customer is at the center of everything we do, as my DMA often says, then why are the CSOs not a priority? OK enough for now.

You're not expecting GM to do something that would make sense are you?
