How is your business?

How is your business?

Postby PartsPlant81 » Fri Feb 12, 2016 4:30 pm

I'm in Western New York and all of our vendors have been saying everywhere is slow for awhile now and the drivers from a big wholesale dealer not far from me that are usually killing it; say that they are dead too.
Just wondering what everyone else is experiencing in other parts of the country right now.
My December was pretty bad and January was the worst since I have been here in terms of Gross Profit.
What's everybody else going through out there?

We are located in the Midwest just outside of St. Louis. December was ok, not great, January was ok until we got to about the third week and then it got very slow and has been that way ever since for us.

We are in Northern Illinois. Our December was awesome. January was pretty great. But it seems like the first day of February it dropped off big time.

Northern KY/Cincinnati area here. We have the benefit of having moved to a new location in September of '14. We have interstate frontage now as opposed to the rural location that we were in, and it's no big surprise that our business has grown every month since we've made the move...both in the fixed ops as well as sales.

North Central Texas

Nov. was our best since 2004
Dec. was our best since 2004
Jan. was our 3rd best since 2004
So far, Feb. is pacing +30% over Jan. +25% over Dec. and -10% behind Nov.
We've had a mid winter so far. No icy roads, which is rare here. That always kills our business for days.

We were really blessed in 2015. had a really good year, in spite of RIM.

Up and down. We missed our Jan Goal by about 7%. So far Feb is tracking about the same -7% short. Last year was a decent year, we moved to the new location 2.5 yrs ago and the new is wearing off.

2015 was our best overall since 2008. Every month was up double digits except for Dec, because the upswing actually started late 2014 and it's starting to catch up. However, January was still back on the upswing a little, and Feb is pacing well. Overall our GM store is up a lot over 12 months, about 20% in parts and service. Our Mercedes and VW were about flat for the same period. Much of our growth has been in aggressive tire selling and pre-loading accessories on trucks, but Cust-Pay is up too...

Midwestern Ohio is sloooooow for the last couple weeks. January was not too bad, but February is awful, so far.
