Light Truck Combi-Cooler Part Interchangeability
Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac Dealers:
Additional part numbers and interchangeability have been validated for Light Truck Combi-Coolers part numbers 84211191 or 84243590. This message is intended to clarify part interchangeability as the GM Electronic Parts Catalog is in the process of being updated to reflect the connection between all compatible parts. For your awareness:

If you order You may receive one of these approved and compatible parts
84211191 84211191, 84429642, 84496856 or 84537373
84243590 84243590, 84496335, 84537373, 84429642, or 84496856

Please be aware that some of these parts may have an Order Writing Control on them which may result in you receiving an answerback showing the part is on backorder. If your order backorders, you will see a follow-up answerback within one business day advising which part number you will receive and which facility it is coming from. You will receive one of the parts listed in the chart above. This is a necessary step in our process to manage the inbound orders.
Your order will process automatically. You do not need to take any action or contact the Service Parts Assistance Center (SPAC).
The update to the GM Electronic Parts Catalog should be completed in the next week.

And so it begins......

We ordered 2 84211191 condensers on a DRO for stock (since they "not eligible for RIM management" of course). Our person that scans the orders beings me part # 84429642 saying it won't scan.
I look back at the answer back for that order and see this:

I had forgotten to pull this answer back since when I placed the order via the DSC I saw there that nothing backordered.
Please note the answer back says it was "replaced by 84429642", not that it's a substitution.

Now I have to delete the order line for 2 84211191s from CDK and manually post in 1 84429642.

This is a real contender for the dumbest thing GM has ever done. At least in the top 10.

Sure it is. Sure they do.
We just ordered a 84211191. Answer back says it's replaced by a 84496856. Of course, it's not really "replaced", just substituted.
They have 300 of the 84496856 in Martinsburg WV, plus stock in other warehouses. They show no stock anywhere for the 84211191. So tell me why can't they just go ahead and do a number change?
