41 years this year. Been with GM since 1999, Jeep Dodge, Chrysler before that. I have never seen a company so poorly ran as the "New GM". Left hand doesn't even know the right hand exists!!! I actually enjoyed this job up until about 10 years ago, now retirement cannot come fast enough!!!

Been in the business since 1990. Started with Toyota, spent 20+ years with Saab and then GM. Been back with Toyota for the past 2 and half years.

I started at the bottom: lot lizard, driver, recon, lube tech, regular tech, parts counter, parts manager and that's as far as I want to go

Too long...
Since the late 70's. Management since 2003. It is as bad as I have ever seen it, GM is just hard to deal with.

32 years first 6 with GM ( when it was fun) next 20 with Chrysler (10 as manager) now a counterman with GM. Chrysler wasn't perfect but they where a damn site better then GM is. I do not know about them since Fiat but I cannot image anyone as bad as GM. Sorry to say my resume is posted on job sites and I check others daily, because I like the dealership I am at just not GM's bull$hit.

1970-1972 Used car jockey
1972-1980 GM ware house, wholsale phones, parts counter
1980-1986 NAPA store counter/Manager
1986-1992 Assistant Manager GM front and back counters
1992-2003 Mopar and Nissan parts manager

All for the same family until they sold out in 2016.

Started in May 1973 at a Chevrolet store for 3 years an Oldsmobile Cadillac GMC Nissan Acura Volkwagen Honda and Lincoln Mercury store for 17 years and a Chevrolet GMC Buick Toyota Chrysler Jeep and Ram store for 25 years. I have been the parts manager and director at every store. I worked with Reynolds & Reynolds Vim III and ERA as well as ADP . It's been interesting but this is my last year . I don't see GM wanting anyone who has done things correctly over the years staying at one of their dealerships.

Started washing cars in 1996. Delivering parts in '99 and working the counter in about '02. Have done a couple stints as manager at smaller dealerships, and am now working the counter at a large dealer and perfectly content to not deal with the politics anymore.

Most of my years have been with GM, but have also done Honda and Toyota.

28 years with GM. Parts driver, office clerical, cashier, warranty admin, as well as parts manager. The last 5 years have been the most brutal. I have gratefully accepted a GM counter person position less than 4 miles from home, fewer hours, and same pay.
I see the path GM is taking, and I wonder just how long it will be sustainable; let alone begin to implode. I have done my share of termination returns through both buyouts and attrition. It is truly a shame......shame on GM!
