Jim,

1) how do i rename a quote?
I don't see a way to do this. My best answer is to create a new one.

2) how do i delete an old quote?
Take it off the 'never delete' list in FLR. Let it delete itself. There doesn't appear to be a 'delete immediately' function.

3) dmacri in your answer 2a & 2b, how do i turn off the default for qty? AAAND if i make a tuneup4, tuneup6, tuneup8 etc.. how do i get it to sell 4, 6, or 8 of the same # but diff. qty in each kit?

This answer assumes your using SDL not PRO quotes.
SDL has 6 Columns
1. Part Number
2. Descripion
3. PJ - so you know if you must order in quantities
4. Default - Do you want the system to assume you want it, or do you want to physically have to tag the part
5. Sell - Default amount to sell when selected
6. Notes - Nice to know details when selling

So, if you have one SDL for tune-ups, the same sparkplug number could show up 3 times in the same list, you simply tag the right one. -OR- You can set up multiple SDL lists. A 4TU that defaults with 4 plugs sold and a 6TU that defaults with 6 plugs sold.

how do i get the same part# to default to qty 4 , 6, or 8 ? i asked adp and they said i had to change the per job qty for the part# in part maintenance. if thats true then i don't see how i can use part# 123456 for a qty of 4 in one kit, and be able to have part@ 123456 for a qty of 6 in another?

Jim
I think I finally understand what you're doing.
In our examples, is part number 123456 the spark plug number as well as the kit number?

DMACRI,

going back to your explanation of a parts kit through quotes, what did you put in for the labor type?? a dummy labor type which brings up the REPRICE option every time?

Robert & Jim

Robert - to get the reprice option, we need to go into service logon and update the labor-type(s) using ULT
The second to last prompt is

PARTS PRICING BY LABOR TYPE ONLY (Y/N)

Set to Y - system will not prompt for Reprice.
Set to N - system will prompt for reprice.

*NOTE* set to NO will assume that if the customer has their own price-code (which is rare for retail customers)it will use that price instead the labor-type default. This is true when selling parts that are not part of a quote.
As an example, pretend a wholesale customer came in for an LOF, if you used that customer number and they were set at Cost+20, then that is how your parts would price (though possible, I don't see your next-door dealers/wholesalers coming in for service.)

Jim
Kit tune-up4 has part123456 def=y qty=4
kit tune-up6 has part123456 def=y qty=6

Unless you haven't tried my suggestions, I sense that you and I are re-stating ourselves over and over. Give me a way to contact you if my suggestion isn't working.
