By using 687 correctly it will add to your being able to reconcile the G/L inventory to the DMS inventory more accurately. Account 687 can take a debit or a credit and show the difference between what you paid for a part and what you "show" as cost for the part when it is sold. The adjustment to 687 is done at the purchase of the part, not at the sale of the part
