I thought the Old keys are to be turned in when recall is being performed and then old keys destroyed after completion of recall :?:

They are to be turned in but he was just curious, and tried anyway. Make sure your service advisors inform the customers not to use any leftover original keys.

Recall 14133A page 3 states "In order to expedite the performance of this service procedure and to minimize customer inconvenience, it is stongly recommended that dealers pre-cut and pre-code the ignition/door keys in advance of the customers service appointment so that the keys are ready when the customer arrives."
1. Who pays if the customer never shows?
2. This seems to imply that we can get key codes from GM Connect without an Ro number and without a tech's name. I would cheerfully get the codes and cuts looked up and attached to my parts paperwork to "miminize customer inconvenience". I will not pre-code cylinders and pre-cut keys.

What do you think? Also asking my GM rep.

They can't go anywhere else at this point, GM won't allow duplicate orders for the same VIN. I could see it they wrecked it maybe, but if they went to another dealer it would come to light that there was a previous order and you could just ship the whole mess to that store to do the job.

So, are we free to get key codes without the Repair Order numbers and tech names ?

The question looks kind of dumb in writing..... :D

I was gone on Friday so I am just picking this up........
So now you have an "open kit", non-returnable, you have put time into a job that is NOT even in you shop, nor do you have an open RO. One would think that who ever wrote that needs to crawl out of a hole and get a life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am real interested in what your Rep. has to say along with what kind of return protection are we going to get on "unopened" kits.

If you've been in the GM parts business for any amount of time, I THINK you already know the answer.

Since we are having to order switch # 23215459 but are (generally) receiving kit # 23232575, how is everyone handling this as far as receiving the parts is concerned?
If this is a dumb question, please go easy on me. It's Monday. ;)
