Ign. switch recall.

Who codes locks at your dealership? We have been coding them in the parts department since I started here in 1985, but I understand that there are dealerships where the techs are responsible for doing it. I don;t mind doing it if we can stay ahead of the appointments and get them ready ahead of time, but I am sure that won;t happen all the time.

Service will be getting added time for coding these so why not make them earn there money?

When did everyone forget that we are ALL here to earn/make money for the dealer!!! Helping the service department code a few locks will not hurt your GP in the big picture. I do understand not installing the transmission parts..... but come on.....

I have been coding locks for about 17 years.... If it is a case where we are coding a lock for a customer in the shop we take that opportunity to put it on the RO as a general 242 part with a .01 cost and $15.00 list..... We, in parts here, enjoy coding locks......

Do any of your guys take parts out to the techs, or just simply wait until the techs come and get them?

I think we are all here to help each other out and we can all make money........ Remember that stupid old saying 'There is no I in team.' As much as it is a cliche, it is still true..... The often constant bickering between departments does not help anyone.....

sorry, I will get off of my soap box now......

Hey Greg
Couldn't agree with you more. Glad them guys aren't working for me. We'll bend over backwards for our techs. They'll give us free advice when we have a wholesale account asking us questions over our head, Borrow us some tools when we need them for at home or work, help us out on our personal cars.
Wow you guys need to chill a little!!!
Just my two cents.

Alright where was I. Does the first tumbler go towards the head of the cyl, or do I leave the tenth tumbler out???

Ordered 3 more yesterday afternoon and as of 2 minutes ago, there's no record of any of them on Global so no way to upgrade, no answerbacks about them from yesterday and EPIC won't load at all this morning

wtf is with these people?

We don't have a problem doing the lock cylinders here in parts, we get alot of help from the techs when it comes to technical issues with our wholesale accounts as well.

Don't mind doing cylinders as long as tech asks and I'm not busy waiting on customers or trying to get a SPAC case made.

We just got our first batch of kits today and one of my counter guys had a good question.

Do we still have a limit of 5 key code requests per day?

Some reps have reported that key code limits have been removed for now. But we all know what the word of a rep means - YMMV

BTW, the DFOAB just deleted my issue (2544) i posted about earlier. Didn't contact me in any way, just deleted it like they have most of the recall issues. :o
