39 years as parts mgr. as of March 2016 . All in the same town, same franchises, 3 different owners. I do not think it gets any easier no matter how long one stays in this. It has been a living , at home everynight, no Saturdays. Met many good people over the years. Most respect if given respect, then there is the rest of em.

Hmmm broke into the business 33 years ago as a counterman. Was an Asst Mgr from 89 till 03 became MGR then and now am enjoying the fruits of being a counterman again for the past year. Don't miss the MGR position and don't know if I would do it again...

22 years at the same dealership. It all started by driving the parts delivery truck.

Started in June 1993 at a Toyota store, transferred to another Toyota store within the same group in 1995 as the manager, then transferred to the PBOG store in the same group as the asst. mgr in 1996. Left for a mid size Chevy dealer in 2000 as asst mgr, became manager in 2007. Then came GM's "dark days". The dealer was closed in the consolidation. I was offered a job as the Subaru parts manager with that group, and I rapidly declined. Literally the same day in 2009, the biggest Chevy dealer in my area called me and made me a side counter guy, complete with a pay plan that exceeded my managers salary. Got promoted to asst mgr in March 2013, and here I still sit. To quote the late Jerry Garcia, "what a long, strange trip it's been."
