ADP obsolescence report

True, if the PM has the intelligence to do that. Or use it to scrap stuff. But he was just blowing it off, thinking that it would just roll over year after year, and he could send back parts regardless of age. He has never returned an incorrect or unused CSO either, he just puts them in stock. I don't want old crap on my shelves, nor do I have the time or the manpower to Ebay stuff. I have parts on D2D at a discount but I have only been successful once using it. It's a waste of money in my opinion.

At least you got the 75% each year he did that though.

I got one credit this morning for 1 cage of this year's returns and between the 2% discount they took back and the freight charge, it cost exactly 5% of the value of those parts to return them.

I'm wondering why they are taking back 2% though when the current reserve rate is 1% - Going to have to look into that. But they would just up the shipping to 4% I'm sure

They always take back the 2% discount. He got the 75% but didn't know he was getting. See? He was indifferent and now they have parts 95 months old. And he kept all the parts he's written off in this past in his inventory but changed cost to a penny. If they didn't sell before they arent going to sell now, and he's not doing anything to move them other than maybe discounting them on D2D. If you're going to keep that much crap you have to try to sell it somehow. I can't stand pack rats. I want my inventory as clean as possible, even to a fault i suppose.

I know there are dealers out there that will give you 10-15 cents on the dollar for old crap and nos parts, sorry I can't give you any names off the top of my head. I know when we lost the franchise (Dodge) at my previous employer they came out in droves to buy my inventory. I am sure someone can help find these guys, don't use the services out thier they will charge you and you still have to pay frieght on top of that.

Oh I completely understand you being pissed about it. Just pointing out that the company was getting something out of it - whether he knew or cared about it or not.

As far as the 2%, they will need to change that because they don't give 2% anymore - it changed to 1% with the SLP program. Their thinking in the past was to take the max discount back on returns because they claim to not know how you purchased the part to begin with(We all know that's BS). But with the max discount now being 1%, they can't keep that scam going forever. But like I said, they'll just bump the freight charges up to 4% to still get them to their goal of 5%.
