18 Years & Counting

Coming up on my 37th anniversary in this business. Almost all of it at one dealership. Started in the service dept. changing oil.

In some ways seems like a long time ago - in others it was just yesterday.

Think about this one. When I started the 1979 models were new. Not a single 1979 Chevy had a computer, unless you count ignition modules or maybe that odd timing box on a turbo 3.8 Monte Carlo. EVERYTHING had a carburetor. I can remember when they added torque converter clutches (1980). Vacuum hoses - actual rubber hose, not plastic - running everywhere.

Enough - I guess I am old. Little past 9:00 EST, better get to bed....

November of this year will be 49 years, all in Chevy Parts at GM dealerships.
27 at my last dealership, 12 at the current one.

Boy, have I seen some changes.

I just wish all the younger guys could have been around in the good old days (60's, 70's, 80,s,),
when GM treated you like a King, made you feel like a King, and realized you, as a dealership, were their best customer, and without their Dealers, they were nothing.

It actually was fun back then !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, those certainly were good days. Trips to Sydney, Paris, Scandinavia, London, etc. Had a wonderful time with other
Parts Managers AND the GM people. My oh my how the times have changed.

20 years and counting; parts manager for 10, parts director over multiple stores for 3 years. We're multi-brand but heavily weighted on GM...

43 years in GM, last 20 as manager. I have seen many changes over the years and none good for the dealership. Can't wait to retire, tired of GMs crap programs!
