Drapp,
The colored taps meant the following:

Green meant the item was on order.
Red meant it needed to be ordered on your next stock order.
Blue meant it was on back order.

To work your next order, you just had to look for the red tabs.
If it was already on order, but needed more ordered, it would have a red and a green tab on it.

It worked a HELL of a lot better than RIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!

33 years with a GM dealership, the last 24 as service manager, I originally planned on working in one for at least 15 more years to retire but I am out. I will be turning my notice in this week. All the nonsense dealing with GM is a very large part of the reason for my early exit. The micro management from them is out of control.

I do have the satisfactin of leaving with my department well trained, profitable and no skeletons in the closet or major issues for my replacement to have to correct.

Good luck to everyone still in the trenches.

Ditto bajaman, I highly recommend it if you can afford it. Talk to my ex employer and employees every once in a while and find that I left them in good shape. On the other hand I just got back from a week at Rosarios Resort on Orcas Island (look them up on the web) only to realize that there is NOT one damned thing I miss about GM or any other Corporate slime.
Hang in there folks, and I'll leave the light on for ya !!!
