Just curious if anyone else out there is going through this. It doesnt happen often but it still pisses me off. I see a tech spending all morning working on bringing a trans & transfer case out and when I talk to him at lunch he says "its a aftermarket warranty and they are sending there own parts" Now this is probally only the 2nd or 3rd time it happened in the past year but still. Anyone else out there dealing with this?

Yes.
My service dept has no balls.
I would tell the customer your warranty pays X, it costs Y for the repair, you owe the difference.
But that seems like common sense, which isn't too common here.

It happens here on occasion too. However, I usually get the chance to at least quote something first. Then it's up to me if I want to play ball and sell one for next to nothing or tell them, fine, they can send their own. I usually opt to sell for next to nothing because a sale is better than no sale at all IMO.

Bailo1-I agree I feel the same way a sale is sale, better then nothing but last time warranty company told me that there trans came with a lIfetime warranty so I still lost the sale. So i guess the warranty companies are trying to be slick by offering a better warranty then gm

I also let everyone involved know that all loading, unloading, rounding-up missing parts, or anything else that can and does goes wrong will have to be attended to by the aftermarket warranty company , not us.

That has happened to us several times in the last few years. I also am dictated gm list price by many service contract insurance companies when we use a pricing matrix. Hoping some of this pricelink no list price will get to some of these mechanical ins. co.'s. Not going to hold my breath. We also get beat up by every collision insurance company that our body shop deals with to discount from list.

I have no problem price matching GM list.
I have a problem selling at cost plus next to nothing.

We have a pretty hard nosed warranty clerk who calls in the aftermarket warranties. If it's a "we'll send you a part" he gets a handling fee. I try and get the gross I would have made from GM on and engine, transfer case or transmission, seeing as they only pay 10 or 20 % mark up on them anyway. The rest of the time we go for a minimum $150.00 handling. We get it about 80% of the time. I can't see breaking our back for nothing, especially as LKQ has never seemed to hear of a truck with a lift on it.
