Better Shipment tracking ? ? ?

Postby Remy » Fri Apr 08, 2016 2:08 pm

I got this letter from 085 Rancho PDC this morning, I am hoping this is a small nugget of good news on tracking cross ships better...

ANNOUNCEMENT
UPGRADE TO GM CROSS DOCK SYSTEM (XMS)

On Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. EST XMS (GM’s cross dock system) will be unavailable to the carriers and the Visibility website (mygmcca. com). XPO Logistics on behalf of GM CCA Logistics will begin the database and web front end conversion process at 5:00 EST. The process will be completed by noon EST, Sunday, April 10, 2016.

DDS Driver Delivery Scanning Project Details.
1) The system that manages the cross docks for GM CCA will go through a database conversion. The new database stores PDC shipments at a freight piece level.
a) Enhanced communication from GM / XPO to Carrier scanning applications. GM PDC Computer rooms will provide the Freight Piece Summary Report generated at time of pick tag creation to XPO. This report will be used to generate a file feed to carriers so they have actual freight piece detail prior to shuttle trailer arrival at cross dock. This will provide ability to leverage error proofing in our scanning tools.
b) This enables Logistics to combine Referral and PDC freight into a consolidated freight piece (cages, totes and blue or green uni-paks).
c) Referral BOL documentation provided by Schneider will change during this conversion.
Dangerous Goods Freight will remain on a separate BOL
d) Establishes the foundation for DDS Driver Delivery Scanning.

Schneider is still piloting their new scanning software. They will go live with the enhancements detailed above at a later date. Effective April 11, 2016 you will receive the new BOL format for referral material

Our driver called this morning to see if he left his scanner here. LOL hope they have extra scanners available. I can see this happening in the beginning.

Great idea, but with our warehouse (Hudson) it won't matter if they don't have room on the truck they just leave it on the dock till they have room. Waited 6 days for a CSO transmission.

We got the same notice too. And then a day later another letter said that our DDS was changing from Ryder to DHL in late August.
Must be somebody's brother-in-law works there and got the contract.
