here's a question i have had for as long as i've been in the dealer parts department....

why is it when i go to bill a part out on an invoice or on a repair order, sometimes the quantity on hand shows zero? i have the part on the shelf, and if i use the "Q" function to look up a part and it shows a quantity of one.

any ideas?

Exactly where do you see this quantity zero? Is it while you're billing the part, or before or after?

That part is either on a saved counter ticket or on a RO with a SB trans code. Check your 2527!!

you could say it is while i am billing the part, but before i save the invoice or repair order.

when i am in 2525 on an invoice or a repair order, it will show a quantity of zero when i enter the part number on the screen as if i were getting ready to bill the part out. if i put a quantity of zero in, and hit enter to move to the next line. on the next line, i hit Q to pull a quote screen, the part number shows a quantity of zero. but i haven't billed any thing out.

the other guys at work can't answer my question. and i'm trying to learn as much as i can :)

yes, down at the lower left corner of the screen, that will sometimes show a quantity of zero, but i haven't billed any parts out yet.

Also check your 2570 Counter Sales Format, it might be set up to display "Quantity Available" instead of QOH. 2570 determines what fields display down at the bottom while your invoicing in 2525. QA is influenced by open saved invoices.

I have added the quantity available to the invoicing screen. also before you enter a quantity for the part you are going to sell hit shift ? and a list of choices will pop up. enter option 2 for open invoices and the invoice or dash -1 RO will pop up that the part is billed on.
