Pay rates for a senior tech training an apprentice

Looking to see how other shops pay their master technician for training an apprentice technician

Why would you pay a tech less for training someone? Their jobs are now taking longer because they are training a apprentice.

pay the apprentice hourly and flag the master for all the work
