This is for GM dealers. Did anyone get hit with a $19.80 environmental fee when they purchased a 55 gallon drum of 0w20 from the GM OIL PROGRAM? Why all of a sudden? Did anyone read any bulletin about this? Environmental fee. What a joke. Another way GM takes our profit. If GM wants us to be competitive and have us lower our Prices for specials(like oil changes ,brake jobs, tires, batteries and such, Why don't they lower the cost so we can make the same profit.

What did your distributor say? Is that a GM thing, a local or state fee, or their screwup?

I sent an email to my DSM, no response yet. Called the distributor and they are also looking into it. I will post an answer to my own question if I ever get answer from the Bean Counters.

We get hit each delivery for about $60. They call it an environmental fee. We put it in freight. Cost of delivery

We do not.
That's why I think its a local/state regulation or vendor screwup

Check your state or local tax policies. Connecticut has what they call "Gross Earnings Tax" on the first sale of petroleum products in the state. This shows up as an "environmental fee" on GM invoices for motor oil and atf. It calculates out to about 6 % which we add to the cost of our oil/atf. The consumer then gets to pay a .0635 % sales tax when we sell it as well. We also get to take a hit on factory paid oil changes, which don't pay enough to begin with, due to our higher cost of oil.
