ADP/CDK Inventory

ADP/CDK Inventory

Postby Richard » Tue Jan 17, 2017 5:41 pm

Am I correct, once you start a full inventory on Drive+, you can't open any RO's or parts invoices? I remember accidentally starting an inventory when we 1st got on Drive and it locked both parts and service from doing anything to invoices and RO's. They want to do an inventory while we are open Saturday.

It is easier if you are closed. But we have done it both ways several times and didn't have any major issues with being open. (notice I said major, because we always have minor issues whether open or closed.)

When you put CDK into true physical inventory mode, you can't sell parts to invoices or RO's until completely finished and all count sheets have been entered.

As soon as they start the inventory, all parts go to zero OH.

We did it last year while we were open and were able to bill things out as they counted. They just had us write everything down so they could adjust it when the counts were done.

All those parts billed show up in the variance report though as adjustments. So if you're judged by variances, that will throw your percentage off

You can run business as usual when you start your inventory. After you finish your counts run report PSAC, Parts With Activity, the run PSEC to enter the adjustments from the parts you sold.

Run PSCL, Inventory Checklist, Physical Inventory to get step by step instructions on how to run your PI.

Do you do your inventory with scanners or the old fashioned way?

Richard and mrjaygraham, whether you scan or manually count your inventory in CDK, you can be open for business and sell parts, as long as you track what comes in and out. Zep33-parts do NOT go to zero O.H. until "PHP" is run. Regardless whether PHP has been run, you can still sell and receive as long as the parts are tracked. Z23T-you hit it on the head, when finished scanning PSAC will tell you any parts with activity during the physical, its a great tool!

I was lucky enough to have been able to do a Physical Inventory with one of the gentlemen that wrote the code for the CDK Partscan inventory. It is a great system for all of you that are on CDK, I highly recommend it!

azmike, Are you referring to PHP option 2? When you run PHP, if you choose option 1 for a Complete Inventory, it locks out all transactions or at least it used to. If you choose option 2 for Partial, you could still post transactions and then you would run the verification reports (VPI) that would show you any and all transactions during the inventory period for a physical re-check/re-count. Some stores that wanted to stay open during a physical would purposely chose option 2 for Partial Inventory but still do a full.

The original question was "Once you open an inventory in Drive, can you still open RO's and CT's?" The answer is yes, whether you do a partial or complete inventory. This has always been the case. The purpose of doing a Partial inventory is only counting certain sources, or areas. Has nothing to do with being able to conduct regular business.
