Basic GM return procedure

Basic GM return procedure

Postby cain555 » Mon Jan 23, 2017 4:56 pm

Hello all- I have delegated my shipping/receiving duties for quite a long time to one individual. Shame on me, I haven't kept up with the procedures for returning either a core or a (type 01?) special order return. Now I need to do it. I am assuming its not brain surgery, but would anyone mind laying out the steps they do for a return like these? Just the most basic steps (where to click in Globalconnect, etc). I am sure the rest will come to me. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you all so much- Cain

I click on Parts, then Parts Main Page. Up top it will say Parts Workbench and I hover over the "Manage Parts Exceptions / Returns" . Click on "submit materials returns"

Once your there, make a application number. Then fill in the return code. If doing a core return, you'll need your core tag ID number. Fill out hte part numbers and hit submit. They'll send you the info from your PDC, once you receive it put the stickers or core return labels on it. For a core return you need the core ID stickers, Green Core Return labels and big yellow zip ties. For both you'll need the PC 0302 form. They'll have all that at the GM 1store if you don't already have it

Cores are pretty easy in global. Here are the steps. Go to parts main page, scroll down left hand side column to
manage parts/returns/claims.

1.) Go to material return
2.) click on submit material
3.) Open return code box, select Core return

Then from here your just filling in the info. application # your core id ( off of the green sticker) and that's pretty much it for a core return.

on the core returns (this is a heavy core), does it matter what the application number I assign it?

No, I usually just use some form of that date.

one last question- I am doing a type 06 concealed damage return. On the Material Authorization Form, do you sign that authorization for scrap? Once again, this is a type 06 concealed damage worth $178.87. Thanks again, can't believe I haven't done this stuff.

I don't recall ever scrapping a damage claim. They will send you an application with a damaged return tag to inspect the damage part. You will have to put yellow arrow labels (PC5066) to mark the damage on the part.
You'll have to sign the application and fill out the PC0302 and return it with your driver like you would any other return.

If you are referring to the scrap authorization on the PC78, I never sign that.

Partsplant and PartScott,

Thanks again. Is the type 01 return only special order return or RIM as well? Also, the purple stickers I have for this next one have a bottom and top sticker, one is the regular one then the bottom says container label. Do I need to separate these or just put the whole thing on the parts going back? Thank you!
