So we stock Mobil1 Delvac in the 1gallon bottle and most of the vehicles we sell it for use 10 qts. How do some of you all handle that as far as what you give the technician. Also, how do you handle battery cores.
DealerTrack assigns a part number to a part with a core value but not batteries. How are you all assuring your cores come back ? And the last thing is, all of the unused coolant and brake fluid in the shop that the customers pay for and the techs think it belongs to them now.

I've recently started stocking a few 1qt 15w40 bottles to go along with my 1 gallon jugs. It was becoming a pain to keep up with what the lube techs should have out in the shop for spare gallons of 15w40. That way I accurately give them 10 qts now and no worries.
I charge the battery core to the RO until it is brought back to me in parts. I'll even force it onto the RO if it doesn't automatically bill it out. Then i'll remove the core once the battery makes it's way back into my department . If service screams that there is a core still on the RO it's fun for me to says " Well bring me my cores back and we won't have this issue"
As far as left over fluids from customer repairs in the shop. I let me techs keep whatever they haven't used. That way if a customer comes in a they just need a little coolant or brake fluid they just let the lube tech use it.

We had the same issues with battery cores. To fix the problem, Service manager told all tech's to bring up battery core first. No core...Tech gets NO battery PERIOD !!! end of story.

We charge out 3 gallon of the oil, this avoids trying to keep track of the extra oil, and as far as extra coolant and fluids, we let them keep the extras for top off and fillers...
Batteries are treated as an Exchange only item, they get a battery when I get the core turned in, but if you'd rather have a core charge, you can add core part numbers and costs on any part in your inventory on Dealer Track, we did that during the crazy recall when all items had to be shipped into WPC, it just reminded everyone to get the parts back.

DealerTrack - I use 19000000-C as my battery core part number. The tech doesn't get their hard copy back until I get a core back. I stopped fighting that chemical fight a long time ago, the service manager sided with the techs.

What do you cost the oil at then ? Do you average it ? Cost in gallons is 3.07 and in quarts is 3.77. We would sell more at the 3.07 cost, so cost should be in the 3.30 range ?

Receipt the gallon as the part number in quarts and put the difference to 687.
