Could someone please explain to me why RIM (GM) decides
previously RIM stocked parts that are now part of a GM Special Policy are no longer managed by RIM? I know I'm old and sound parts inventory management is a thing of the past, you would think with the current corporate thinking of jamming everything they can into the dealers parts departments,( ie, 1 sale every 4 years), something that sells alot would be a smart move profit wise for the corporation?

As painful as it might be try and remember that RIM has nothing to do with proper parts inventory management. It is a marketing program for and in the behalf of GM (Period).

Yes, "RIM Logic" is certainly one of the biggest oxymorons out there.

Hi Mike, I fully understand that RIM is nothing more than a marketing program. My thinking is that GM is obsessed with generating
as much profit as they can from the captured customer base they have, it would be in the Corporation's favor, profit wise, to have RIM
supply those Special Policy parts.

My belief is, by not letting RIM manage these items (recall's etc.) and forcing you to either CSO or DRO them,
They all become NON-RIM PROTECTED.
So guess what, once the recall is over................

If RIM were to manage these 'Special Policy' numbers, RIM SPQ's would be at elevated levels for everyone and when the pace of sales dropped off GM would be forced to accept them as RIM returns. That ain't gonna happen.

I agree with the Wolf... all about RIM protection, or the lack there of.

Exactly. But wait...I thought GM and RIM were operating for the betterment of the dealer body
