Hello all I'm with a GM dealer and I had a request for the metal vin tag on the dash right behind the windshield and for the life of me I can't remember how to order them or who to call if it matters I'm in AZ. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated thank you

Pretty sure you cannot order a VIN plate... and I would suspect anyone wanting to order one.

I've never had to do it, but I've heard you have to contact the highway patrol when replacing a VIN tag, I think they'll put it on also.

yes ... replacement VIN plates are issued at the state level, usually through the DMV or state police. An inspection of the vehicle needs to be performed to look for any other "hidden" VIN identifications before the new VIN plate can be issued. I would stay as far away from this (potential) customer as you possibly can !!! :?

I'd run the VIN on IVH and see where it was delivered and serviced.

A buck will get you ten that it is an out-of-state vehicle.

15 YEARS AGO,HERE IN MI YOU HAVE TO CONTACT THE STATE POLICE. THEY CAME OUT TO THE DEALER AND WHEN THEY WERE PUTTING IT ON EVERYONE HAD TO VACATE THE ROOM. THERE IS A PLACE ON THE VEHICLE THAT HAS A VIN TAG THAT THEY DID NOT WANT TO SHARE WITH US. WHEN WE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS CLEAR WE WERE ABLE TO COME BACK IN . TOOK ABOUT A 1/2 HOUR.

Many years ago I had someone ask for a vin plate, when I told them they had to contact the state police or DMV they laughed and walked out..

Last time I dealt with this was in 1987. A Chevette came thru with a incorrect vin tag. (Yea that was fun to figure out) Our GM rep came down with a sealed box and two special rivits, we had the windshield removed. The rep witnessed the installation. The rep took what was left of the old rivits and old vin tag and placed it in a pouch. Never to be seen again.
