New Parts Manager to GM/Chevy

Postby mzg402 » Sun Jun 25, 2017 4:26 am

Hello all,

In a couple weeks will be assuming the role as Parts Manager for a dealership here in California. I'm coming from the German side and new to the domestic brand. Would love any tips and advice you may have or any info for me to get a head start before taking over

My advice is to watch this forum carefully. you are coming from an environment where you used to control the parts inventory in the manner "you" saw fit; to an environment where the factory "tries" to make all the decisions for you. Watch the RIM "suggested" stock orders carefully, gauge them against the past sales history in YOUR dealership; doing so against a market area is NOT the best idea. Remember, if you do nothing, GM will ship the stuff to you whether or not the demand in YOUR dealership warrants it. The RIM process is nothing more than a fancied up marketing program; it is not Inventory management by any stretch of the imagination. Good Luck on your new job; live long and prosper. Mike

what DMS will you be using?

Will you get a crash course on RIM from the outgoing manager?

Sorry to hijack this thread and sorry to disagree with you BUT, we are NOT a customer of GM. A customer has FREE CHOICE
to pick and choose whom to buy from. Try doing that NOW with the General and see what happens to your "Purchase Loyalty".

mzg402, I wish you all the luck in the world in your new endeavor.

Welcome aboard...

Curious as to which DMS you will be using and what is your market area ??

Also, was the dealership RIM compliant before your arrival ??

And, I hope they took (or will be taking) an inventory as dept management changes....

Who knows what evil is lurking in those parts bins ??
