I wanted to see if anyone else has had an issue with the way that GM has been sending transmissions inside of a cardboard container stapled to a pallet.
My tech left the unit out side during Irma and with the wind and rain, the box is now in pieces and partially missing. This is a pathetic excuse for a shipping container compared to the nice plastic clamshells. I've banded the units onto the pallets to return, but there's no way that I can rebuild the cardboard section. Anyone else deal with these issues with the cardboard and if so did you receive credit for the core return? Thanks

I would think that due to the impact of hurricane Irma they would not have a problem with, at least if it's Charlotte. They have helped me a lot with some issues due to Irma.

What did the Technician say when he was written up?

I have had trouble with the boxes. Always rcvd my credits ok. But the cardboard is a joke. They get crushed, soaked with fluid, then hard to get back in

We haven't had an issue with trannys but the engines boxes are another story. Just about every tech we have here and in shops we sell to tear the boxes apart. I've made an instruction sheet pointing out the 4 bolts to remove to take the cover off. They still tear the cardboard apart. I've decided to take the box off and keep it in parts.

I have had good success making new cardboard pieces from a good fascia box. When I return cores that have cardboard boxes, I always wrap them with shrink wrap to give them some sort of integrity. I have not been ding'd for these yet.
