Any thoughts on how long a part number should remain in my DMS (CDK) before moving to DEL status? I am a GM dealer and I have part numbers with 0 OH and 125 MNS and 120 MNR still sitting in NS. My thoughts are that should be on AP by 12 MNS and once it sells go to delete.

I delete parts with BIN locations (stocked parts zero on hand) after 9 MNS.
Let CDK/ADP do what they want with the rest.
If it's tracked by RIM it won't go to DEL anyways.

All those zeros under NS really drive my OCD up a friggin wall. last year I deleted about 14,000 part #s.
I think deleting them may also help with your MNS on parts you just purchased showing a long time of MNS even though you just bought them. I'm still experimenting with that so I don't know for sure.
I can't stand having a part we just bought a week ago and is here waiting to be installed showing as 17 months MNS. My thought on this is that if it has to be added again, the MNS will start on the day the part was added
One issue I ran into after deleting those 14,000+ part #s was there was a couple of older ROs that had parts on DEL on them that service wanted to void and when I removed them from the repair orders, they did NOT increase my on hand because they were not taken off of delete status before I removed them from the ROs. Seems like a CDK glitch as it should increase the on hand but it will not if it's on DEL status. Just something to watch out for.
