It appears AM allows an aged part number to be zeroed, deleted, reinstated, have a lost sale recorded and re-received. This takes an aged part and makes it appear on reports as a fresh viable part.
I don't recall other DMS programs allowing this to happen. Granted if you know what to look for it's clear what's going on but the quick glance by inventory co does not see it. It corrupts the data so finding true obsolescence is difficult and shelves are full of "fresh" old parts.
Current "Parts Manager" does this apparently to win gold stars at inventory with zero over 12 month parts. Besides being lazy.
