Our AutoHate email has been screwed up for a few months now. AutoHate's answer is that the email system is going away because "NO ONE ELSE IS USING IT".

Could you tell me if you are on AutoHate, do you use the email system? It is a good way to communicate between departments.

Or is this just another BS answer form AutoHate???

Never used the email. Used to use chat but that was tough too because you had to have it open and make sure the other employee looked at it. Only use company and/or personal emails now or texts.

Our IT dept. installed Spark IM for us. We use it a lot. It's free, open source software. To test it they had it running on an old laptop they had lying around. It worked well so they set up on a server for it.
The only drawback is what PartsPlant said, making sure people are logged on to it. IT set ours up to auto-login when the PC starts. It has a feature to request the other person's attention where it pops it on top of what they're doing. You might want to try it.
