parts repricing when labor type changed- CDK

Hello!

New here. I was looking through some of the topics and saw quite a few knowledgeable people.

At my dealership we have this problem where the advisors like to start out the RO's with a CP pay type.... get a quote.. sell the job... and then flip it to warranty!

It is incredibly frustrating to have to write off parts markup just because a labor type was changed.

Now if I recall correctly... the last time I used CDK years ago it would automatically reprice the parts when a labor type was changed.

As of right now... that is NOT happening. I've looked everywhere for any setting pertaining to that, but I'm not getting anywhere.

The closest thing I see is in ULT there is a checkbox in each labor type for "parts pricing by labor type only" But it is not clickable no matter what I try.

Any ideas?

thanks!

I would open a case with CDK.

There is a known glitch as of about a year ago so not sure if it's been fixed yet that the occasional RO would not reprice. CDK knows about that issue as I've had it happen but not in quite some time now.

When our service dept has a big job (ie. Toyota frame recall) I make them change it before I order the parts - just in case

Generally parts pricing will change when the labor type is changed.

However, there is one big exception. If when the part is billed the pricing is overridden or in any way modified the price will not change with labor type. The system assumes the override should be exactly that and remains overridden.

That said there is - once in a while - a price that does not change and we have no idea why. I would love to understand it but gave up on that one.

We just went through this with CDK too. The only time it won't reprice if the line's labor type is changed is if the parts are sold off of a quote. If that happens, they just remain at the quoted price, while anything manually entered will reprice automatically. CDK's rep did say they have a fix for it, but the downside is that the service advisors will be able to manipulate parts pricing on their end which isn't going to be happening.

I had a Toyota frame job do that to me once and it definitely did not come from a quote. I wouldn't have had any reason to do the 25 or so parts as a quote first as we all knew it was part of the frame campaign. Back then I just didn't know that CDK could screw that up. All service did was change it from CP to warranty. Some of the parts changed and some didn't if I remember right.

CDK has so many little idiosyncrasies so who knows LOL
