Hello all do any of you have a reference guide for the parts department on how to program keys and transmitters for customers so they don't have to go through the Service dept. I understand that some vehicles have to but some may not. Just wanted to know if anyone has a guide or has put one together that he/she is willing to share. By the way I am a GM dealer, thanks so much in advance.

I don't get involved. I let service do it as if it backfires then good luck

The Service Dept. at the last dealer I worked for, attempted to make a similar chart for their Advisors. They ended up throwing it away since some vehicles just did not comply.

Our service dept does it for free as long as it goes well which most of them do. We have some come in with one from amazon are somewhere and that cost them.

We just do it for the customer if its the "start the car with the old key, then use the new key" style. For all the others we send to service.
