What a wonderful way to end the week! I just had an older gentleman looking for an inner door handle for a 2011 Buick Lucerne. YUP it’s a complete door panel……….. I ‘m thinking this is going to be embarrassing telling this guy he has to pay $700 for a new door panel to get that handle. THANK GOD I don’t have to do that anymore because GM has discontinued the door panel. What a relief!!! Now all I have to say to him is…….Just keep telling your 80 year old wife to keep climbing in and out of the window. This job is really starting to SUCK.
Yes I did try Dorman and they only make replacement handles for the rear doors.

Beer time!!!

Holy crap.

I had a quote for an engine in a 10 equinox today. 2.4 ecotec. Reman from the parts store list price was within a couple dollars of a new GM engine. got us beat on cost by over a grand.

I'd sell the parts store engine if it wouldn't kill my sales loyalty since it isn't a GM part.

some days are better than others.

The Pickups are like that, try telling a fleet customer who has 20 trucks that of the 20 9 are busted that he has to spend $700 each for door panels because GM will not sell the handle separate.. It's pitiful!

The General doesn't care about specialty replacement parts. Wasn't always like that. Their primary concern now is selling NEW cars and trucks. As for replacement parts, as you can see their focus is on fast moving maintenance items i.e. brakes, tires, struts, filters, etc.

Had a customer ask for a headlight switch for a 2006 Silverado today. Sorry Mr. Customer but GM has discontinued your switch. I guess you will have to buy a new Silverado instead. FAT CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
